At the end of 2022, the Hungarian Government decided to set up a new organisational structure in order to comprehensively renew, at the process level, all tasks related to preparing and implementing flagship international sporting events and major national events (hereinafter collectively referred to as “major events”).

The purpose of the thus established National Event Management Agency Nonprofit Co Ltd. is to develop a unified methodology for thorough event planning and implementation and project monitoring, by combining and further enriching the event organisation experience gained in connection with the major events of recent years. The goal is not to lose the experience gained to date by separate project companies, for example, after organising a major sporting event, but to channel it back into planning and task performance during new event organisation tasks.

This way, budget expenditures become more plannable and controllable for the state (as the client), which is represented by NRÜ with regard to these events, and during the implementation phase, it gains increased and up-to-date insight into the processes. However, it is just as important that viewers and participants also benefit from this change, and it is guaranteed that they can always enjoy professionally organised events.

The functions and responsibilities of the Company are regulated in detail by Government Decree No. 591/2022. (XII. 28.) on the designation of the National Event Management Agency Non-Profit Private Limited Company and the definition of certain functions thereof.
