MotoGP to Make its Debut in Hungary with a Fan Festival

On Sunday, June 22, a full-day fan festival awaits motorsport enthusiasts at the Akvárium Klub in downtown Budapest, featuring race screenings, exhibitions, and prize draws. Visitors can participate in a variety of motorcycle-related programs and view several historically significant relics, including the very motorcycle Gábor Talmácsi rode to win the world championship title in the 125cc MotoGP class in 2007. In addition, fans will have the chance to win one of five exclusive double passes to the MotoGP test day — the first time MotoGP teams arrive at the Balaton Park Circuit in Balatonfőkajár — and also to take part in the MotoGP VIP Experience during the Hungarian Grand Prix. The fan day is organized by HUMDA Hungarian Mobility Development Agency Co Ltd. and the National Event Management Agency Nonprofit Co Ltd.

After thirty-three years, the premier class of motorcycle racing, MotoGP, will return to Hungary between August 22 and 24, 2025. The fan festival on June 22 is being held in celebration of this event. Speaking about the occasion, Dr. Ádám Schmidt, State Secretary for Sports, emphasized:

“It’s a great opportunity for Hungary to once again host the world’s best motorcycle racers after many decades. Motorsport is extremely popular in our region, with hundreds of thousands of registered motorcyclists in our country. I hope that many of them will attend the races in person. But I also hope that this fan festival will inspire many of our fellow citizens who are only just beginning to explore motorsports to come to Balatonfőkajár. One of our most important goals with every international sports event is to leave a long-lasting positive impact on Hungarian sports and the respective discipline. I am certain that this will also be the case with the world’s most popular motorcycle racing series!”

Visitors to the fan festival will also get a behind-the-scenes look at the work of Arena4/Network4, the broadcaster of the MotoGP series in Hungary, as they will cover the day’s races of the Italian Grand Prix from an outdoor studio. Fans will be able to follow the races on giant screens at the Akvárium Klub in Erzsébet Square. The Moto3 race begins at 11:00, Moto2 at 12:15, and the MotoGP race at 14:00 from the Mugello circuit.

The program also includes a roundtable discussion with young Hungarian riders: Kevin Farkas, who is expected to race in the domestic Moto3 round with a wildcard, and Tibor Varga, who competes in the MotoE season. Visitors will also be able to rewatch the 2007 race where Gábor Talmácsi won his world championship title. Furthermore, guests can try the Moto Trainer simulator, and there will be a demonstration by the HERT Hungarian Endurance Racing Team by Moto-Jungle Racing, which competes in the FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC), in collaboration with and supported by HUMDA. Motorsport fans can also test themselves in tire change exercises and a Playstation MotoGP competition. Younger visitors can get up close to the Ohvale MiniGP racing motorcycles designed for kids.

The event will also feature a motorcycle exhibition showcasing the evolution of the sport. The legendary Aprilia bike with which Gábor Talmácsi won the 125cc MotoGP world championship in 2007 will also be on display.

At the fan festival, fans can win tickets to the Hungarian MotoGP weekend and its exclusive experiences. Each pair of tickets includes access to the MotoGP VIP Experience program, including entry to the MotoGP starting grid, the Podium Experience after the award ceremony, and the secure and restricted Parc Fermé area used for technical inspections.

“It brings me great joy that, 18 years after winning my world title, we can finally welcome the MotoGP field to Hungary this August. Let’s not forget that the more intimate and family-friendly Superbike World Championship (WSBK) will also visit Balatonfőkajár at the end of July. I hope to see as many Hungarian motorsport fans as possible at both events,” highlighted Gábor Talmácsi, 2007 MotoGP 125cc world champion, who is contributing as an expert in the preparation of the events.

In addition to the top-tier MotoGP event from August 22 to 24, Hungary will also host the Superbike World Championship (WSBK) races between July 25 and 27, returning after a 35-year hiatus. The promoter and organizer of the races is HUMDA Hungarian Mobility Development Agency Plc. Fans can purchase tickets and VIP passes through the official websites motogphungary.com and superbikeofhungary.com.
