Side events on the centenary Tour de Hongrie

The Tour of Hungary celebrates its 100th birthday with bicycle side events. On Day 0 of the event, a team presentation, a conference expo, and on some days of the competition, joint bicycle tours await the lovers of this sport.

The race will be organised from 14 to 18 May by the National Event Management Agency in cooperation with the Hungarian Cycling Federation and the Vuelta Sports Office. On Day 0, before the event, a free cycling festival will be held for those interested, to help them tune-in to the centennial race, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The highlight of the event will be the team presentation (6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.), where the audience can meet the team members participating in the race. Visitors may meet six-time Tour de France stage winner Dylan Groenewegen in a meet & greet, and our cyclist pride, Olympic and World Championship fourth place winner Blanka Vas will also visit the event. In addition to meeting in person, a huge expo, bicycle games, family programmes, raffle, spinning and many other programmes await visitors. Expert cycling enthusiasts may dig deep into the mysteries of the sport at a cycling conference. The events of the evening team presentation are broadcast live on M4 Sport.

There is no cycling festival without riding together: those who wish to celebrate in style may also take part in riding their bikes to the venue together from different parts of the city: from Dózsa György street, Árpád Bridge, Kőbánya and Törökbálint. Details of bike rides and Day 0 events are available on the official Tour de Hongrie website.

At some stages of the race, lovers of the sport can take part in AmaTours. On these bicycle tours, anyone can ride on the TdH route with police escort. On 14 May, AmaTour Budapest offers this opportunity on a 4.7-km circuit that also touches the Chain Bridge and the Liberty Bridge. The route of the tour is the slow start of the first stage of the Tour of Hungary. After the second pass of the peloton, the participants may set out to cycle the route in a group. It is worth taking this opportunity if you can ride at a speed of at least 15 km/h.

Two days later, on May 16, fans of the sport can test themselves in one of the most beautiful regions of Hungary, the Mátra, on the tour Cofidis AmaTour Kékes. Those open to an adventure can ride from Mátrafüred to Mátraháza, on the official route, after the first passing of the peloton (14:15). The section has a level rise of 330 meters, so this hike is ideal for those who are not afraid of climbs.

At each AmaTour, anyone can experience the joy of cycling in a closed group, without participation fees and registration.

As in the last two years, it will be worth following the events from the side of the roads not only for the sake of the competitors: the route of the peloton will be accompanied by an advertising caravan in 2025, which provides both a great atmosphere and gifts for the fans. The exact timetable of the caravan can be found here. The side events on the centenary Tour de Hongrie are continuously updated on the official website of the event.
