The organizing committee of the World Aquatics Championships Budapest 2027 held its inaugural meeting on October 7. The leadership of the body responsible for organizing the event is shared by Ádám Schmidt, State Secretary for Sport, Sándor Wladár, President of the Hungarian Swimming Association, and Dr. Mátyás Falvai, CEO of the National Event Management Agency.

In addition to the committee members, Husain Al-Musallam, President of World Aquatics, also attended the inaugural meeting in person. On the same day, he took part in the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the new World Aquatics headquarters in Budapest.

“It is a tremendous honor for us that the international federation has once again entrusted us with organizing the World Championships. The Hungarian organizers will once again do everything possible to ensure that the 2027 edition will be the most successful World Aquatics Championships of all time,” said Ádám Schmidt, one of the co-chairs of the organizing committee, during the inaugural session.

Sándor Wladár, President of the Hungarian Swimming Association and a member of the presidential trio, stated at the meeting: “The outstanding events of recent years have set the bar very high, but fans and visiting guests can once again count on us. We will strive once more to impress the world with something that has never been seen before.”

Dr. Mátyás Falvai, CEO of the National Event Management Agency and co-chair of the organizing committee, added: “Over the past years, Hungary has gained organizational experience in several sports that ranks us among the world’s best. As organizers, our goal is to create opportunities for unforgettable sporting experiences—both on-site and through broadcasts—for sports enthusiasts visiting our country and for Hungarian fans alike.” Members of the committee’s executive leadership include Gábor Schmidt, Deputy State Secretary for Sports Administration and Development; Norbert Madaras, representing the Hungarian Water Polo Federation; Andrea Vargáné Szabó, President of the Hungarian Artistic Swimming Federation; Ildikó Kelemen, President of the Hungarian Diving Federation; and Zoltán Nyul, Deputy State Secretary for High-Rise Construction at the Ministry of Construction and Transport.
