A celebration of women’s handball

2026 marks the 12th year that the EHF FINAL4 Women is played in Budapest. In 2023, an attendance world record for women’s club handball was set, with 20,022 fans in the MVM Dome.

In 2024 an extension of the agreement until 2027 between the Hungarian Handball Federation (HHF), the Hungarian National Event Management Agency (NEMA), the European Handball Federation and its marketing arm, EHF Marketing, was announced.

Michael Wiederer, EHF President, said: “For the fans, the EHF FINAL4 has established itself as the European ‘must-visit-event’ for women’s indoor sports. For the players, it is the event which is on their mind already at the beginning of every EHF Champions League Women season. Budapest has proven to be, year after year, a weekend filled with outstanding matches and great experiences. There is no doubt that also the 2026 edition will live up to this.”

David Szlezak, Managing Director EHF Marketing, commented: “The success of the EHF FINAL4 Women is built on three pillars. It is a celebration of handball for thousands of fans; it captures and creates unforgettable moments for players and ultimately it provides valuable opportunities for partners. As we’re approaching the 2026 tournament, we have built a strong foundation together with the HHF and NEMA as the basis for the event’s future success and growth.”

Ferenc Ilyés, HHF president added: “The FINAL4 holds a special place in our hearts, as it has been the venue since the beginning, in Budapest since 2014, and next year we will be hosting the competition of the best club teams in the world for the 12th time. I know how popular the event is for fans who wait every year to take possession of the fantastic MVM Dome. As always, together with our organizing partners, the National Event Organization Agency, the European Handball Federation and EHF Marketing, our goal this time too is to raise the FINAL4 to an even higher level.”

“The National Event Management Agency is participating for the fourth time in organizing the Women’s Handball Champions League Final Four. Based on our experience so far, the Final Four weekend becomes truly festive not only because of the performance of the teams competing for the Champions League title, but also thanks to the atmosphere created by the fans arriving in Budapest. This is why we are working to ensure that the 2026 Final4 can also become a true celebration of handball.”– emphasized dr. Mátyás Falvai, CEO of NEMA.
